Be SOCIAL - not a social robot

Ok y'all - so something hit me not too long ago while I was scrolling through social media. I open Facebook/Instagram - scroll, click like/double tap, scroll, read someone's daily struggle status {laugh}, click like/double tap, scroll, see beautiful picture, click like/ double tap, scroll, read sweet post about someone's child or significant other {awww!}, click like/ double tap, scroll, see hilarious meme {laugh}, scroll, read someone's celebration of a win or success {yay!}, click like / double tap, scroll.... sound familiar?
Most of us are all on social media - scrolling through feeds in our free time, at our jobs, in the car, and even when we're being socially with each other!
I started associating this habit of clicking like with smiling at someone out in public. But not necessarily just anyone, let's just use a friend - you see that person in public, you're walking towards each other/about to walk past each other and you see them wearing a phenomenal pair of shoes, or a new jacket that looks bomb and right as you get to each other you look at them AND
....smile at those shoes or smile at that jacket.
Nothing wrong with that - BUT - how different could that interaction have been if you stopped and said, "Wow, I LOVE those shoes!" or "That jacket looks AMAZING on you!" It would have taken a tiny bit more time, but what you don't know is what that simple comment could mean to the other person and all it took was just you saying the nice words you were already thinking and would probably say to them in person. I know for myself - it means so much more to me when someone takes the time to write comment on a picture or post that meant enough to me to share.
So here is what this PSA is about: the point is to interact.
While I would also encourage everyone to most importantly BE PRESENT {another blog post coming on that topic}, if you are in a place where you are killing time or just catching with those on social media and not in a physically social situation, stop being a robot - scrolling, liking, scrolling "loving", scrolling, double tap. Social Media is for being social. Do more than just figuratively "smile" at everyone, express what you're thinking if you really "like" or "love" something!
BE SOCIAL. INTERACT!
I'd love to keep up with you and for you to keep up with me! So follow my personal life {here} and for all things weddings with and my wedding business {HERE}. <3
