Weekly {Pre/Re} View - 10.21.19-10.27.19

Welcome to my *NEW*
Weekly {Pre/Re} View!

There's always so many random things that I see, hear, read, or experience that I don't share with y'all - sometimes I do a little and sometimes not at all (not intentionally though!).

Every Monday - I want to wrap up all of those things in a little package right here for you! There's a terrible stigma around Mondays and I really wanted to give you all something positive to check out or even look forward to on Mondays - it's all about mindset anyway and I'm just trying to help!

I'm not sure about y'all - but the weather changes here in Knoxville are messing with my allergies SO bad. I had to load up on my "wellness" concoction last Wednesday because I felt  r o u g h.

So glad my allergies didn't keep me down because I had a few fun events last week!

Thursday:
This was the 2nd year I've been to the Knoxville Urban League Awards Gala and it such a fun time! It always so inspiring to see what they are doing in and for the minorities in the Knoxville community. I hope to get involved with one of their events this coming year!

They shared the heart breaking and inspiring story of the "Clinton 12" - read more here.

If you're interested in getting involved - you can see how to volunteer here

My fabulous date, KC!

She is such an inspiring & fun person!
Her skills with hair & makeup are ridiculous:

AND

she's preparing for her first fashion show directed by her including her own line!

Mark your calendar for her show and check her pages out here to follow along with all of the fun she has coming up!

We're also collaborating for Halloween and I CANNOT wait to share with y'all!

Friday:
I was invited to be a part of an event hosted by Jenn at Salon Yeager, Brittany at Board and Brush Knoxville, Lisa (photographer and home blogger) and Hannah (blogger and owner of Lucy Lu's Boutique).

My "before" Courtney with Salon Yeager gave me a fabulous blowout and did my makeup!
Shop this cute Halloween tee here!

Salon Yeager was such a nice salon - they even had a "lather lounge"! Your shampoo was in a separate room with low light and essential oils - sooooo relaxing! Check Instagram highlights to see! You must get a blowout from there - located in Bearden Hill!

The theme was #basicwitchesnightout so I wanted to wear something witchy but stylish. I got on Pinterest and found a little inspo:

 and ended up with this!

The top, skirt and hat is all from Amazon! Shop the look here!

Such a fun Friday night again with these ladies!

Sunday:
I got to see Madame Butterfly with the Knoxville Opera at the Tennessee Theatre! Such a beautiful & sad story and the performers did a phenomenal job! It's definitely one of my new favorites!
Also, seeing any show at the Tennessee Theatre is just dreamy & magical. Check their schedule here and get there asap!

So, what happened last week? Well...

A school in East Tennessee - Jacksboro Elementary - got a huge donation for their pantry!
Newlywed celebrity couple Jennifer Lopez & Alex Rodriguez donated a year's supply of food to the school's pantry to make sure that kids are not going home hungry. Read the full story here!

Thank you so much for supporting East Tennessee kids, JLo & ARod! <3

If you've been following me for a little bit, you know my love for fashion and fashion shows is huge.

Last week, one of my favorite bloggers/influencers - Officially Quigley - attended a runway show for a designer that I love - Cynthia Rowley. She was showcasing a collection in LA and instead of using runway models...

Creativity on the runway is one of my favorite things to see. How genius & beautiful is that?!

Now to something completely different - the new Star Wars trailer for "Rise of Skywalker" premiered last week as well!

My brother & cousin were huge Star Wars fans growing up, so I've seen the original trilogy and then the early 2000s trilogy (which were technically prequels to the 70s/80s movies - if you're not a Star Wars fan - the order to watch all the current movies can get pretty confusing) and even the Ewoks movies. But I have missed ALL of the new ones from the last few years.

I've heard so many mixed reviews so I was nervous to start watching!

If you're a Star Wars fan, are all the new ones (in the last 4 years) worth it?
and
Will you be watching "Rise of Skywalker"

Real Outfit of the Week: I apparently didn't take any full length pictures of my work outfits this week! 😐
I did take this quick pic wearing my new earrings from Katie's boutique in Gray - Elizabeth Wynn!

This is the top I wore them with! It's one of my new favorites! Perfect for the office!

This is the plus size style - the top I have is more of a peplum style on the bottom. The chambray color is unavailable, but there are several more prints I linked here!

Since I don't have any of my outfits to share - I wanted to share some cute outfits the other witches wore last week that I hung out with on Friday!

If you're not following them, click their names and check them out on Instagram!

PRODUCT LOVE!

Last week in Instagram stories I shared about how Kiss Products Impress Manicure Press-On nails saved the day for me - yet again.

I used them earlier this year when I didn't have time to get my nails done and this time I actually just forgot. I went to get ready for the event last Saturday for the Knoxville Opera and realized my current nail situation was no bueno.

Pulled out the same kit I had used in May and had enough left over for a 2nd set! They lasted all the way through this past Friday's witch event! I put them on in a hurry or I think they would have lasted longer - my set back in May lasted 9 days!

If you've never tried them - you HAVE TO! Such an easy and affordable solution to nail perfection!

You can pick them up at Ulta, Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Target or on Amazon!
I linked this exact style online where I could - but there are other cute styles available online at all of these stores!

It's Halloween week y'all!

I LOVE Halloween - but mainly for the dressing up. I'm NOT into scary movies or haunted houses, corn mazes, barns... any haunted experience really.

But if you are - did you know the scariest house in America is located right here in Tennessee!

McKamey Manor
Originating on Russ McKamey's property in San Diego (which is now closed) since he moved to Tennessee where he operates his "torture house" as well as another location in Alabama.

This isn't your regular haunted house though...
To participate, you must go through a series of qualifications.
*must have medical insurance
*present a doctor's physcal & mental assessment
*pass a drug test & background check
*2 hr video of previous visitors giving up
*complete 40 page waiver

You only get in if you are selected after a video call screening.

When you show up, make sure you:
*are not wearing expensive clothing
*don't bring anything that can't get wet
*bring a bag of dog food

If you make it to the end (which can last up to 10 hours), you will be awarded $20,000.
Who's ready to go?!

No one has ever completed the haunt, but if you want to give it a shot - you'll have to get in line....
McKamey boasts the waiting list is around 24,000 people.

Russ sounds like a complete crazy person - but he is retired Navy, has a full time job at the VFW, has a side hustle as a wedding DJ & singer. He loves to entertain and create, which eventually lead to him creating the haunt.

It was really interesting to learn about his background in the Netflix documentary "Haunters: The Art of the Scare". It's about 90 min. and perfect watch for this week!

While you won't find me trying to get into his haunt (or any others for that matter) - I do find it interesting hearing about those who create the haunts and enjoy them.

For East Tennessee locals - you can check out Frightmare ManorDead Man's Farm, or Beck Mountain to get your scare fix!

Also, it's Homecoming for UT this weekend! If you're heading to Knoxville for the UT game this Saturday, I'll be tailgating with some of my girlfriends in Circle Park! Follow along on Instagram or come find me in Circle Park!

 Happy Monday!
I'd love to meet you/interact with you!
